In my life…

Love song: In My Life by Patti Austin

Although music is sweet
But the song incomplete
Now in my life,
Boy in my life
Something is missing

It’s the truth, yes it’s true
Still there’s no me and you
Here in my life
Boy in my life
Something is missing

In my life there ain’t no melody oh no
In my life there ain’t no harmony
To let me sing a song
All I need is a cue when I’m waiting for you
Boy in my life
You are the melody
Coz in my life
You are the song

Baby, in my life
You are the song
You are my melody
To me baby, in my life
You are my song

*I like this song, the message is so sweet..! However, there’s somehow an exaggeration…Hehehe

Time for myself, it’s good to relax alone

Posted by: rppolycuh | December 21, 2008 | No Comment |

It’s a nice opportunity for me to have a time for myself after half of this second semester (A.Y. 2008-2009). New time to relax, grow, read, meditate, think, reflect, drink coffee, listen to jazz music, answer mind boggling problems and reminisce…

Sometimes, one needs to isolate in order to grow - this notion is comparable to a growing tree..Hehehe

I will miss my true friends and classmates.

I’m planning to spend my Christmas vacation for myself, but this doesn’t mean that I’m trying to avoid people around me.

Valuing the time for myself implies organizing plans and learning more. This self exercise will help me to prepare for another chapter of my life - year 2009.

When I’m serious…

Posted by: rppolycuh | December 21, 2008 | No Comment |

My friend Chryzel wrote:

When you get jealous, you demean yourself. You are comparing your own merit to that of another human being.  There are two important reasons you shouldn’t get jealous:

First, your partner can always choose another to love and should not mean a criticism to you.

And second, whether or not you are chosen to be loved is not a measurement of your own self-worth.  If you make it so, you will always be doubting your own worth as a person.

Don’t let your self-worth depend on other people’s approval.  You will never know how others are going to feel about you at any moment of any given day.  :)

My comment:
This is not different when viewing a glass half full. Dual perception fabricated this sort of situation- a positive and a negative response. You viewed jealous as a form of negative response. For me, there’s a benefit when a lover gets jealous. Jealous as we know, is a manifestation of love -or let’s say ‘craving’ for the presence of someone . When you get jealous, it means you’re longing, at best-loving. Jealousy for me is an undoubtful human nature since love can makes us all equally motivated being in the sense that it is mysterious and it CAN conquer all. It’s natural to get jealous. I’m not being bias, I’m trying to configure this in empirical way. When you viewed jealous as kind of “comparing”, then it simply means…that’s the way YOU are.

Hehe, that’s only my opinion.

Addicted to Math and Physics Problems

Posted by: rppolycuh | December 12, 2008 | No Comment |

Today I receive a bunch of Physics problems from Ma’am Glenda De los Reyes. This encompass from Rotation to Waves on a string…plus an additional problem set which covers from Magnetic Field to Optical Instruments. I know that my attitude regarding this seems obviously NERDY. I admit that I’m passionately in love with Mathematics and Physics. My very heart and soul are triggered actively when I encounter a mind bending Math and Physics problems, especially if the concept is theoretical with eye catching diagrams. Although I cannot solve quickly some difficult problems, but I cannot halt my mind to ponder such problems. I strongly believe that in everything…“Persistence is the name of the game”, of course this also applies to problem solving. Hooray! that’s the secret!!! PERSISTENCE…

I like seeing a scratch paper fulled with figures and numbers (no matter how it was fulled). The more mathematical characters, the better! Since it implies that the problem solver thought a lot of concepts and analyzed various principles. My close friends and family know this craziness I have. Mathematics and Physics for me are addictive. I used the term addictive because they are irresistible even if I’m doing something apart from their notions.

Aside from being a mind calisthenics, through Math and Physics we can unlock the secrets of nature

So now this Christmas season (or in my birthday), and if you want to give me a gift…don’t bother to think a cute and unique stuff for me. Give me a challenging Physics and Math problems or you can show to me an elegant proofs in Math and Physics concepts. I will really appreciate that!

Maybe some people will interpret that this is a sort of weirdness. Or if someone is in the negative side, he will interpret this as a form of boastfulness…hahaha.

But I tell you…THIS IS THE REAL ME, no more no less

Whuhuhu…I missed the chance to see this stunning “smile in the sky” last December 1, 2008 [in Philippines]. I was relaxing in Ortigas during that night. And I didn’t even try to look up in the sky.

“Dress up for God”

Posted by: rppolycuh | December 6, 2008 | No Comment |

For me, this is the best line of Concha Vidal in Nick Joaquin’s The Woman Who Had Two Navels:

“But I don’t dress up for them, I dress up for God. I’m still trying to catch his eye… But I’m a woman Father…and I’m sure God meant us to be beautiful, like roses and peacocks and diamonds. He must love that sort of thing or he wouldn’t have troubled to create such a lot of them. I don’t understand why you men won’t honor the labors of women to make themselves lovely. Beauty is a virtue too-or, anyway, a responsibility. A rose that was ugly had disobeyed God. And I’m sure I’m just as serious in being beautiful as a rose is-or as yourself, Father, in being holy. It would be criminal of a woman, of course, to use her beauty for unholy ends-but even that isn’t the great sin. The great sin would be for her to think that God didn’t care whether she was beautiful or not. That would be insulting the Holy Ghost, that would be the unforgivable sin. And I have not yet committed it” - Concha Vidal

Desiderata

Posted by: rppolycuh | December 6, 2008 | No Comment |

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be
greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career
however humble;
it is a real possession in the
changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you
to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit
to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham,
drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

This is my favorite inspirational prose poem…

Desiderata
The Confused History of Desiderata
Desiderata on Wikipedia

I was in my senior high school when I first encounter this astonishing prose poem. At first, I didn’t bother to read it all over again since I precisely got the meaning and message of the poem. My problem in high school was that I didn’t appreciate any form of literature, no matter how beautiful it was. But now, I really appreciate the essence of literature in our life. Just like a music, it could catalyse our feelings and possessions. It could also encourage a person to do something, think someone, reminisce, believe a certain principle and… perhaps could change the totality of a person. Back to Desidarata, I frequently read this poem just for a piece of inspiration and advice. So that I could attain happiness… And that’s one of the great powers of Literature!!!

I think we’re just at the tip of iceberg with regards to brain science. There’s so much more cool stuff to discover!!!

Quote:

…Most
of us have spent some time wondering how our brain works. Brain
scientists spend their entire lives pondering it, looking for a way to
begin asking the question, How does the brain generate mind? The brain,
after all, is so complex an organ and can be approached from so many
different directions using so many different techniques and
experimental animals that studying it is a little like entering a
blizzard, the Casbah, a dense forest. It’s easy enough to find a way in
- an interesting phenomenon to study - but also very easy to get lost…

Influences and Truth

Posted by: rppolycuh | May 20, 2008 | No Comment |

Nietzsche’s nihilism had influenced Hitler’s view of Aryanism (WWII).

Christian Philosophy has influenced European Dark Ages (Crusades, War between Christian and Muslim).

Aristotle’s Principles of Logic helped Science to flourish.

Plato, played an important role in Greek politics.

Based from these evidences, philosophers can’t claim absolute truth…

But they helped to shape the truth….

Mathematical Beauty

“A physical theory must possess mathematical beauty.”

In the most basic explanation, mathematical beauty is related to simplicity and surprise.
